The Interreg South Baltic Programme participated in a two-day TakeUP workshop – a practical, hands-on training aimed at improving how Interreg programmes and their projects plan to achieve real impact from project results. The event was organised by Interact and built on the methodology created by the Interreg North Sea Programme team, known as the “7 Essentials.”
Representatives from five Interreg programmes took part in the workshop: Interreg Germany–Denmark, Interreg Italy–France (Maritime), Interreg Central Baltic, Interreg Atlantic Area, and Interreg South Baltic. Each programme was represented by two Joint Secretariat staff and two project representatives (from five different projects). The Interreg South Baltic Programme represented such projects as: Relooped, ReCircWater (Operation of Strategic Importance), INCONE60, N-B Well, and PrepAlliance (Small-scale project).
The Interreg North Sea and Interact teams also joined, moderating the whole event.
The first day delivered the TakeUP approach, developed and tested by the Interreg North Sea Programme. This highly interactive workshop guided participants through the 7 Essentials toolbox to build clear, practical roadmaps for capitalisation – the uptake, transfer and wider use of project results. The session used structured, hands-on exercises and collaborative group work; participants appreciated its practical orientation and actionable methods.
The second day was limited to representatives from the five programmes participating in TakeUP workshop and the Interreg North Sea and Interact teams. It combined group work, joint reflections and practical tips from the Interreg North Sea team. The participants went behind the scenes to share lessons learned about planning, delivering and following up on TakeUP events, including what worked and what did not to help partners adapt the approach to their contexts.
In next steps, teams of the participated programmes are expected to adapt the TakeUP methods to their portfolios and follow up with participating projects to refine their capitalisation plans. Interact will continue to support the programmes by adapting the Interreg North Sea Programme’s materials for common use.
For the Interreg South Baltic Programme, the TakeUP workshop was not only an opportunity to take capitalisation to a higher, more structured level, but also a valuable chance to engage with our project partners, also those from other Interreg programmes and sharing experiences, as well as inspiration.
