Promoting sustainable tourism and enhancing wellness through nature-based services and routes.

Overview: The N-B-Well – Nature-based Wellness Tourism – a New Concept for Sustainable Development of the South Baltic Area project strengthens sustainable and resilient tourism in the South Baltic area by developing cross‑border nature‑based wellness (N‑B‑Well) routes that support health recovery and post‑COVID tourism recovery.

Key Objectives: The project aims to enable SMEs to create innovative, nature‑based wellness tourism offers by defining the N‑B‑Well concept, assessing organisational sustainability, and designing themed cross‑border routes and tools that attract mindful visitors.

Main Activities: Activities include market analysis and development of a self‑assessment methodology for sustainable N‑B‑Well organisations; piloting thematic routes with stakeholders and creating a model of thematic tours plus an interactive digital routing tool; building a tourism network with a shared database, capacity‑building programmes and an online networking platform; and producing marketing and educational materials to promote the routes and support SMEs.

Impact: The project increases SME capacity to deliver nature‑based wellness tourism, diversifies local tourism offers beyond peak seasons, enhances regional cooperation, and supports healthier, more sustainable visitor experiences that benefit local communities across the South Baltic area.
