Transforming packaging systems in the South Baltic area’s food retail industry to promote a circular economy and sustainable consumer culture.

Overview:
The Retail ReLooped project focuses on transforming packaging systems within the food retail industry in the South Baltic area, promoting a transition to a more resource-efficient economy. The initiative addresses the challenges of inadequate recycling and excessive packaging waste from food, drink, and grocery shopping.

Key Objectives:
The project seeks to develop circular economy systems that reduce, recycle, and reuse packaging materials. By setting up living labs in major retail chains, it aims to explore new systems, practices, and green business models that minimise packaging waste.

Main Activities:
Activities involve co-designing and testing cutting-edge packaging technologies and recycling methods with users, retailers, and waste companies. The project incorporates a human-centric innovation approach, focusing on experiences, communication, and culture as key enablers of zero-waste systems and lifestyles.

Impact:
Retail ReLooped aims to establish a new social contract among citizens, producers, and shops, fostering a more sustainable consumer culture. By encouraging collaboration and innovation, the project enhances waste reduction efforts and supports the development of sustainable packaging practices throughout the South Baltic area.
