Creating a tourism offer that involves visitors in protecting and restoring natural areas in the South Baltic area.
Overview: The project develops a sustainable, resilient and innovative tourism product that integrates management of protected areas with active visitor involvement in protection and restoration across the South Baltic area.
Key objectives: Creating tourism offerings that support conservation, engage visitors in indirect and direct management activities, and strengthen local communities and businesses through sustainable nature‑based tourism.
Main activities: Developing a concept for indirect visitor involvement and preparing pilot activities; running study visits and workshops with local communities and SMEs; implementing pilots, including mapping and selecting target groups for testing; gathering and describing good practices and carrying out promotion and dissemination actions; and launching a joint tour product with a final event for stakeholders and experts.
Impact: Enhanced protected‑area management linked to tourism, increased visitor engagement in conservation and restoration, improved local economic opportunities for SMEs, and wider uptake of the joint tour product across the South Baltic area.
