Preparing citizens for societal crises and regional resilience through cross-border cooperation and knowledge sharing.
Overview: The project centres on establishing the PrepAlliance, an international collaboration in the South Baltic area aimed at enhancing citizen preparedness for various potential crises. It addresses the necessity for cross-border exchange of knowledge and strategies to bolster resilience against societal disturbances such as climate challenges, pandemics, and resource depletion.
Key Objectives: The project seeks to forge strong partnerships among organisations that educate and assist citizens in crisis preparedness. By fostering an inclusive network, it aims to facilitate cooperation and knowledge sharing across borders, enhancing the region’s ability to manage different types of societal crises.
Main Activities: Activities include the signing of a “handshake agreement” by PrepAlliance members to formalise commitments and encourage active participation. The project translates partners’ best practice training materials into English and organises events to demonstrate their application. A digital platform provides access to shared resources, while dissemination efforts through networks and social media raise awareness and encourage new members to join. A reference group of preparedness organisations supports network expansion and engagement.
Impact: The PrepAlliance enhances regional capacity to cope with crises by promoting collaboration and best practice exchange. It establishes a sustainable network that continues beyond the project’s completion, ensuring long-term resilience through shared strategies and educational endeavours in the South Baltic area.
