Improving and promoting sustainable, mental‑wellbeing‑friendly tourism in the South Baltic area by creating a certification programme and supporting tourism operators.
Overview: The project Mental and Sustainable Mindscapes – Raising awareness & competences of benefits of intersecting mental wellbeing and environmentally friendly tourism in the SB region improves mental‑health‑friendly and sustainable tourism offers and facilities and promotes this form of tourism across the South Baltic area.
Key objectives: Developing a sustainable tourism certification programme that integrates mental‑wellbeing principles, raise awareness of mental and sustainable tourism, and support operators in meeting robust evaluation criteria.
Main activities: Analysing current practice and best examples; define evaluation criteria and methodology for a certification scheme; run promotional campaigns, conferences and multimedia courses; create a self‑evaluation tool; and certify at least ten sustainable and mental‑tourism operators.
Impact: Stronger quality standards and certified offers for mental and sustainable tourism, increased operator capacity, greater public awareness, and enhanced sustainable visitor experiences across the South Baltic area.
