The project involves eight partners from Poland (2), Sweden (2), Germany (1), Lithuania (3). The partnership is composed of universities, NGO, research institute, public waste management company, private enterprises operate on environmental projects. The partners are supported by 6 associated partners which are NGOs, privates, environmental institutions, public waste management from Poland, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and Brussels. The project is led by Gdańsk University of Technology (PL).The overall project objective is production of green electricity and heat, and reduction of GHG gases by reduction of spontaneous methane emission from landfills and elimination of methane emissions from different types of off-gases. The project’s activities’ aim to investigate 3 technologies of utilizing low caloric gases with low methane content for power production and methane reduction. Among those three technologies there will be user friendly, decision-making tool developed allowing, for instance landfill gas operators, to select the technology providing the greatest benefits based on the actual landfill gas parameters, available infrastructure, electricity price. The project activities start with lab analysis on the utilization of artificial low-calorific landfill gas to produce green energy. The outcome of the analysis will be tested with pilot installations for the utilisation of low-calorie landfill gas. The next step will be techno-economy feasibility studies preparation. Work packages described above go together with dissemination of results on conferences and study visits. In the last project work package, there will be case studies conducted, final analyses including consultations with stakeholders made to achieve set of tools – recommendations for landfill operators. The main target groups are landfill operators, biogas sector, municipalities.
