The project involves eight partners from Lithuania (3), Poland (2), Germany (1), Denmark (1), Sweden (1). The partnership is composed of energy-related research institutes, district heating production and distribution enterprises, local authority, and university. The partners are supported by four associated partners which are energy agency, association of local authorities and district heating companies from Sweden, Poland and Germany. The project is led by Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery Polish Academy of Sciences (PL).The overall project objective is decarbonization of district heating systems basing on low temperature grids, waste heat, energy efficiency and new technologies. The project’s activities start with the assessment and analysis of district heating systems in the South Baltic Area to identify opportunities for improving efficiency and integrating renewable energies. The second content-related work package is dedicated to implementation of pilot actions in district heating systems in Gdynia, Rostock, Kretinga, and Bornholm. Final strand of activities is focused on capacity building and dissemination which includes study visits to selected installations, collaboration and awareness building among stakeholders (local authorities, energy providers), organising workshops and seminars. The main target groups are:-regional and international policy makers (local and regional authorities, Ministries of energy, economy, environment),-executive bodies and contractors (municipalities, district heating companies, politicians, civil servants),-scientific and research units.
