Enabling cross‑border cooperation among youth organisations through small‑scale democracy festivals and joint activities fostering EU values.
Overview: The D-EFFECT – Civic Society Democracy Lessons, Bringing a Youth Perspective in the EU Policymaking at All Levels in Line With Youth Strategy 2022-2027 project creates conditions for active multisectoral cross‑border cooperation of youth‑oriented organisations across the South Baltic area through small‑scale democracy festivals and joint activities that build EU values.
Key objectives: Strengthen collaboration among youth organisations, local authorities, educational and cultural institutions and associations; increase young people’s knowledge of democratic processes and EU values; and develop practical approaches to promote youth civic participation.
Main activities: Partners carry out analyses to identify knowledge and expertise gaps on youth, the EU and democratic values; exchange experience and produce a Democracy Festival Strategy; prepare and implement a series of small‑scale democracy festivals and joint youth activities; and disseminate the model alongside guidelines, toolkits and training materials.
Impact: Enhanced capacity of youth‑oriented organisations to cooperate across borders, tested festival methodology and practical tools for civic engagement, and increased awareness and participation of young people in democratic processes and EU values across the South Baltic area.
