The project involves six partners from Poland (3), Sweden (1), Denmark (1) and Lithuania (1). The partnership is composed of universities, municipality, municipal service company and association. The partners are supported by eight associated partners which are local and regional authorities, networks gathering such authorities, environmental authority and technology park from Poland, Lithuania, Sweden and Finland. The project is led by Gdańsk University of Technology (Poland). The overall project objective is to support municipal utility companies and municipalities in smaller cities and rural areas to apply circular approaches that foster re-use of raw materials within their supply chains and thus resource efficiency of municipal service. The project’s activities are grouped in three content-related work packages. The first one is dedicated to establishing a “South Baltic Knowledge Hub on Circular Municipal Services”. It includes compiling an open catalogue of case studies and available solutions for circular municipal services, developing set of modular curricula for education & mentoring programmes for municipal utility companies & municipal decision-makers and establishing an international network of circular economy experts from R&E institutions. Second content work package focuses on the practical implementation and evaluation of innovative circular approaches within municipal services which includes planning, implementation and evaluation of pilot solutions for technical-organisational practices for circular municipal service provision. Within the last work package there are education and mentoring programmes for municipal utility companies planned together with international workshops connecting practitioners and researchers. The project target groups are municipal utility companies in smaller cities and rural areas, smaller cities and rural municipalities and associations of municipalities and/or associations of sectoral utility companies.
