To build new cross-border partnerships and engage young people in discovering and promoting the cultural heritage of the South Baltic area.
Overview:
BRIDGE – Cultural and tourism education as a bridge for cross-border cooperation, networking and developing relationships with new partners project responds to the current suspension of cross-border cooperation with Russia by establishing new partnerships within the South Baltic area, focusing on regional and historical education for children and young people. It aims to promote local cultural heritage through innovative, youth-oriented activities, fostering cross-border cooperation and engagement.
Key Objectives:
The project seeks to develop new cross-border partnerships for local entities affected by the absence of Russian cooperation programmes. It aims to enhance the capacity and skills of diverse partners and stakeholders to work together on shared issues. Additionally, it focuses on empowering children and young people as creators and consumers of the South Baltic area’s cultural heritage.
Main Activities:
Activities include organising study visits for young bloggers and influencers to partner countries, creating digital content such as articles, films, and social media posts highlighting the region’s heritage. The project also facilitates a history and landscape knowledge competition for pupils across participating countries, culminating in the presentation of the best works on an interactive shared map. Furthermore, meetings among professionals in culture, education, and tourism explore ways to make historic sites more attractive to young residents. The project will also leverage the experience gained from Polish-Russian projects to benefit new partnerships with cultural and educational institutions.
Impact:
The project strengthens cross-border cooperation in cultural education, increases the skills of partners to address shared challenges, and promotes regional heritage among young people. It creates a sustainable platform for collaboration, innovation, and youth engagement, contributing to the preservation and promotion of the region’s cultural assets across the South Baltic area.
