INCONE60 - Inland Blue Transport Connector E60
What is the project changing?
INCONE60 is creating concepts for more efficient maritime transport and a better access of small and medium-sized ports in the South Baltic area to international waterways.
INCONE60 is as well creating concepts for more efficient maritime transport among small and medium-sized ports in the South Baltic area.
What was the challenge?
Small and medium-sized ports need to be connected to international waterways and therefore integrated in bigger transportation schemes, in order to ensure their economic development and to give local and regional areas access to European and transnational waterways.
What is the project creating?
INCONE60 creates an open model of cargo flow and tests its model in pilot trips on the international waterway E60 and other waterways.
The project plans to develop maritime transport to be more efficient and promotes ecological means of transport to decarbonise transport operations and mitigate the environmental impact of transport systems.

presenting parties involved in creating the INCOnet business network, i.e. shipowners, terminal operators, cargo owners, port authorities, forwarders, maritime agents, local and regional governments, research and development centres.
The INCOnet is to create the INCONE60 Business Network with the aim to integrate the indicated players on the market and create business connections between each of them in order to ultimately establish a real network that will have a measurable impact on the development of the local and regional economy.

Full project description
The aim of the INCONE60 project is to develop a concept for the creation of an alternative transport route along the international waterway E60 and link it to a network of other inland waterways – E30, E40 and E70. E60 runs along the European costs, from Gibraltar to the White Sea. E30, E40 and E70 are trunk inland waterways, connected to the E60. With the development of cargo and passenger traffic on these waterways, small and medium ports of the South Baltic area would gain new clients and secure their economic development, and their integration in bigger transportation schemes.
The concept will include technical, economic and social aspects in order to achieve the best possible economic effects.
INCONE60 project activities capitalising on the TEN-T core network corridors for better connectivity and accessibility of Baltic Sea Regions.
The project will be oriented towards improving access of local and regional areas to European and transnational waterways. INCONE60 activities will focus on innovative transport solutions in order to achieve innovative and eco-friendly transport services for citizens and business stakeholders. Actions will be taken to improve internal and external transport links as well as increase transport efficiency. Moreover, actions within the project will promote ecological means of transport and innovative means of propulsion, thus contributing to decarbonisation of transport operations and mitigation the environmental impact of transport systems.
The project will formulate a set of transport solutions to support active development of peripheral coastal regions of South Baltic area by focusing on local ports as growth pools. It will help boost the competitiveness of the Baltic Sea Region and increase its accessibility and attractiveness. One of this solutions will include an open model of cargo flow in the South Baltic Region, which will be addressed especially to the business sector – cargo handlers, logistic forwarders and other transport entities operating in this area.
