The project idea ‘South Baltic Manors EXPLORE’ is stemmed from the claimed political and cultural interrelations within the South Baltic region. The project idea relates to the rural tourism and mobility, in particular to the valorisation of the mansions and manors in the South Baltic rural areas as tourism destinations. The manors are seen as a genuine cross-border focal points that if linked could jointly promote the South Baltic area as a tourism destination. The future project intends to improve valorisation of manors and mansions for tourism development in the rural areas by:
processing the common cultural heritage of manor houses for tourism promotion;
- developing innovative preservation and use concept for manor houses (that are claimed to be quite different in the region);
- creating tourism hinterland connections and implementing season prolongation measures;
- creating cross-border manor house trails and routes.
Finally, the overall aim of the seed money project is to explore the potential of manors and mansions in the South Baltic region and starting points for the future project. The overall goal of the future project is to improve touristic valorisation of manor houses as genuine cross-border monuments of the South Baltic area’s common history with the help of jointly developed tools and cross-border tourism products.
