Project description
The project idea was first developed at the beginning of 2016 by Polish and Lithuanian colleagues. A part of activities was materialized in a Seed money project (completed 31-01-2017).
The value of youth participation has been for some time already recognized at local community and international levels. However, progress in the area of practical implementation has been slow. Young people still are marginal to most democratic processes. This project will make an attempt to listen to youth and engage them in the process of decision-making thus strengthening participatory democracy. The main aim of the project is to increase cross-border cooperation resulting in building capacity of local actors working with youth, and to demonstrate the benefits of soft cross-border cooperation for solving common youth issues.
Project objectives are: enhancing cross-border cooperation of young people in partner countries; improving capacity and competencies of local governments and their representatives to engage in civil dialogue with youth, and disseminating project results for development of future plans for increased youth participation in local and cross-border issues in the SB region.
The project will yield the following outputs: a scientific comparative survey, knowledge-based youth design model processes, a new-quality Youth Core Group Network, a publication, youth portal, cross-border campaigns, video, etc.
Cooperation will be facilitated by an umbrella organization “APCEB” by bringing together new-comer local authorities and in cooperation with universities, NGOs and youth in general.
Added value: participants will contribute towards strengthening European integration; active involvement of citizens, authorities, political and social groups in partner countries will results in better understanding of each other and the participatory process; information exchange promoted; youth civic engagement fostered; mutual learning process activated.
