Modern ports are vital hubs for the economy where active logistics routes cross and different modes of transport meet, so electrification of ports could make a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Successful electrification processes require a forward-looking approach, a unified strategy between different actors in the port ecosystem on this issue, and focused action, as infrastructure upgrades and adaptations involve significant investment, the development and implementation of innovative solutions.
The Lithuanian Maritime Cluster and the Klaipėda Science and Technology Park, which coordinates its activities, invite you to an online event “Electrification for Ports” on Tuesday, December 21, during which the topic of port electrification will be reviewed, paying special attention to Klaipėda seaport - its readiness and potential for projects that are inseparable from the chosen direction of the green port.
Representatives of Klaipeda State Seaport Authority will present the results of the recent assessment of the need for electricity supply stations for ships in the port, reflecting the current situation and plans of quay operators. The event will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the innovative electrification projects of the cluster partners BEGA and JSC Western Baltic Engineering - part of the Western Shipyard group. Valuable technological insights will be provided by the international cluster partners Schneider Electric Lietuva, which specialize in energy management, digital transformation and automation and work with different infrastructure and industrial facilities.
A detailed program of the event will be announced soon.
