Have you ever wondered if the region where film was made has any influence on its content? What do the films made by the inhabitants of the countries of Baltic Sea have in common? On the 26th of June at 18:00 Światowid Cinema invites you for a screening as a part of „Baltic Identity Film Tour”.
„Baltic Identity Film Tour” is a set of 8 short films from countries of The Baltic Sea such as Germany, Lithuania, Sweden and Poland. The films were selected at an international conference and will be screened in all partner countries. Their main theme is the identity of the inhabitants of the Baltic Sea region.
The screening is carried out within the FilmNet-South Baltic Film & Culture Network project, in which the leading partner is the Centre of European Meetings „Światowid” in Elbląg. The project ensures the functioning of a network of cooperating institutions from different countries. This will contribute to the exchange of experience and transfer of knowledge between partner institutions.
After the screening, there will be a discussion, held by dr hab. Krzysztof Kornacki- professor at the University of Gdańsk, film expert and Head of the Department of Film Studies and Audiovisual Culture. It will be attended by specialists in sociology, film studies and cultural studies. The first of them is dr Agata Bachórz- a sociologist and a member of the team of Pomeranian Centre for Cultural Studies at the Univeristy of Gdańsk. dr Sebastian Jakub Konefał, a film expert in Scandinavian cinema, dr Magdalena Sacha, a cultural expert scientifically dealing with regionalism and cultural borders.
The event will take place on the 26th of June 2019 at 18:00 in the small screening room of the Światowid Cinema. Free entrance.
