Project description
The project involves 10 partners from all five Programme countries (4 from Sweden, 2 from Lithuania and Denmark, 1 from Germany and Poland), as well as 5 associated partners from four countries (2 from Sweden, 1 from Lithuania, Denmark and Germany).
The overall idea of the project revolves around the challenge of energy saving and reuse of energy waste. It focuses on initiating industrial symbiosis through cooperation between companies, utilities and municipalities in order to make use of energy and other resources that would otherwise go to waste. Industrial symbiosis is an approach where the by-product/residual product of one organisation is used as a resource by another organisation, in a closed cycle.
The project’s activities are mainly aimed at identification of potential cases for industrial symbiosis, exchange of experience in the industrial symbiosis, development of business models and financing solutions for industrial symbiosis investments, as well as implementing pilot investments of industrial symbiosis for energy waste. Cross-border experience exchange will be ensured as there are differences in experiences and knowledge of symbiosis in the Programme area. Based on the shared understanding, business models and financing solutions for industrial symbiosis will be developed.
The main target groups of the project are industrial companies, local authorities, energy and waste companies (some of the already are represented in the project partnership).
