Boosting renewable energy use and developing energy communities in the South Baltic area through collaborative tools and support.
Overview: The BALTICBEAT project tackles the critical challenge of increasing renewable energy use and developing energy communities in the South Baltic area. Through cross-border cooperation, it aims to equip local administrations, SMEs, and citizens with the tools needed to produce and utilise renewable energy effectively.
Key Objectives: The project seeks to enhance the production of renewable energy by providing local actors with comprehensive toolkits to facilitate preparation and management of renewable energy sources (RES). It emphasises creating and developing energy communities to boost the share of green energy in regional energy mixes.
Main Activities: Activities focus on developing a standardised cross-border approach to overcome low renewable energy shares by gathering and exchanging information, applying peer-to-peer learning, and sharing best practices. It introduces toolkits to empower local stakeholders in creating energy communities and guides local energy transformation processes, reinforced by a cross-border advisory platform and specialised training services.
Impact: By fostering collaborative efforts and increasing awareness of renewable energy solutions, the project strengthens the capacity of local stakeholders to engage in energy transformation initiatives. It supports the development of common behavioural patterns to overcome challenges, contributing to greater utilisation of RES and establishing energy communities throughout the South Baltic area.
