Promoting cultural heritage and sustainable tourism in the South Baltic area.

Overview: The Baltic Manors ROUTE project focuses on the creation of an “European Route of the Baltic Manors” in the South Baltic area, aimed at emphasising shared cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism development. It seeks certification as a European Cultural Route of the Council of Europe (ECR) to boost cultural tourism and socio-economic benefits in rural areas.

Key Objectives: The project endeavours to valorise the manorial heritage across various countries by establishing a certified cultural route, thereby enhancing tourism, fostering cross-border cooperation, and encouraging inclusive rural development.

Main Activities: Activities involve setting up the Baltic Manors Association to manage and govern the route, engaging manor owners and stakeholders in development dialogues, and conducting research and educational events focused on manorial heritage. The project defines inclusive tourism standards, develops manor tourism offers, promotes the route to international visitors, and initialises the process to attain ECR certification.

Impact: By creating a durable cross-border tourism product, the project contributes to the sustainable and inclusive development of rural areas in the South Baltic area. It raises awareness of cultural heritage, strengthens regional cooperation, and provides a platform for economic revitalisation through increased tourism and educational opportunities.
