WATER-PROOF is one of the seed money projects financed by Interreg South Baltic aimed at enhancing sustainable practices in the region.
As a result of the climate change in Northern Europe, thus in the South Baltic Area as well, the intensity of rainfalls and the frequency of extreme weather events such as storms are expected to increase. The intensification of such weather events results in the increased run-off of nutrients and pollution to the waters of the South Baltic Area. The project idea aims at developing innovative water technologies and sustainable water management practices that indirectly lead to a reduction of the projected increases in nutrient discharge to estuaries and coastal waters and thus to a reduction of the eutrophication of the Baltic Sea.
CLEAN – Environmental Cluster Denmark leads this project in partnership with Sustainable Business Hub and Baltic Environmental Forum Lithuania.
