RBR - Reviving Baltic Resilience

Project description

RBR is a unique project concept that was born through experiences from prior EU- and national initiatives. Looking at the evaluation of these previous projects (Euroslam, InnoHeat, W2R, RECO, WAB and RENSOL for example), it becomes obvious that many of the most successful results and activities with regards to the environmental performance ,have focused on a proactive approach (with the goal of preventing issues) rather than reactiveness. This is what RBR want to highlight and further develop.

The main objective and rationale of the project are to highlight the proactive approach when working with environmental projects by showcasing successful proactive methods and technologies to prevent hazardous and unwanted particles from reaching the Baltic Sea and at the same time to disseminate this knowledge to the South Baltic region by having a cross-border approach.

The main outputs of the project will be 4 different pilot cases in all participating countries as well as a South Baltic Proactive Resilience institute/cluster. The purpose of this is to both show the approach/technologies in practice, but at the same time to also certify the cross-border knowledge exchange and durability of the method and pilot cases after the project has ended as well.

The approach of the project is a 3-step process that includes technical analysis of the most optimal proactive technologies/solutions for each pilot case, the implementation of pilot cases and the evaluation of installed solutions from a technical, social and economic perspective. By having a cross-border approach, we will both broaden our knowledge through experiences from three countries, as well as take into consideration different settings (political and economic for example). The cross-border approach is also of the highest importance when creating the South Baltic Proactive Resilience institute/cluster to maximize the impact of the project.
